- Hi Faisal , can you start by telling us a little bit about yourself and how you came to join TWI?
My name is Muhamad Faisal Afzal and I have recently joined TWI as Operations Project Leader in the Lahore Office. I will be part of the Research Innovation and Operations (RIO) team. I have more than five years of professional and academic work experience. During my professional work I led and managed teams working on various projects in the processing industry in Pakistan. Most recently I had the chance to teach MBA and Master's students as a project management lecturer at two of the prestigious universities in Pakistan.
- Why did you choose to apply to work at TWI – and why in RIO?
I have been really interested in managing and leading projects due to the unique and challenging nature of each project. Successful completion of each project gives and a sense of achievement and motivates me for what I am doing. At TWI, and especially in RIO, I have the chance to work on a number of projects which provides me the opportunity to learn and grow myself professionally. Furthermore, I really like the working culture at TWI which motivated me to join TWI.
- What sort of activities have you been involved in so far?
As I have just joined the company, I received a warm welcome from the TWI team in the Pakistan office. They introduced me to the company culture and its history. I also got familiar with the company’s ongoing operations and project and company goals for the future. I met with some of my team members and they help me to get onto the work and to understand my role and responsibilities.
- You are working from TWI Pakistan, but supporting staff in the UK – how have you found this, is it difficult, considering the distance?
My work involves the projects from different geographical locations both within and outside the UK and so are my team members located. I find it extremely convenient to work with them as I have all the necessary equipment and IT infrastructure that enables me to do my job without any problem.
- How about the offices at TWI Pakistan, what is it like working there?
The offices at TWI Pakistan are really great. The atmosphere is really relaxed and all the colleagues are nice and welcoming. They are always available if I need any kind of help at work.
- We would like to wish you all the best as you continue to grow your career at TWI, but, before we go, what would you say to anyone who is thinking of working at TWI Pakistan?
