Deadlines to apply: 3, 8 and 14 November 2023
If you are a UK-based SME who is interested in getting involved in collaborative research and development (R&D) projects enabled by grant (public) funding, then attending appropriate events should be on your ‘to-do’ list! They are a great way to find out relevant information, meet funding programme experts and potential new project partners, and gain a clear understanding of the latest research topics being focused on through funding competitions.
The EU’s Horizon Europe (HE) programme is a key funding mechanism for UK and European SMEs and RTOs, and this is reflected in the number of events that are held each year related to maximising the potential of HE related opportunities. Some of these are organised in the UK, including those run by the TWI Innovation Network, while others take place across Europe.
Recognising that it is a not an inexpensive activity to attend overseas events, Innovate UK KTN is currently offering up to £700 in the form of a ‘travel award’ to help cover the travel, accommodation and subsistence costs of attending some specific, forthcoming events:
SMART PO Proposers’ Day, 23 November 2023, San Sebastian, EUREKA-SMART –networking forum for organisations interested in participating in SMART projects and wanting to benefit from performing collaborative research. This forum will let you become part of the SMART future and jump-start your preparations for the SMART Project Outline (deadline January 22, 2024). Deadline to apply: 3 November 2023 (Notification date: 7 November).
European ManuFUTURE Conference 2023, 23 November, San Sebastian, EUREKA-SMART – addressing European and national / regional policies and initiatives such as the GREEN DEAL, net zero and raw materials. The Conference will bring together high-level policymakers, industrial sectors and key societal stakeholders for a cross-exchange of ideas on people, technology and innovation. Deadline to apply: 3 November 2023 (Notification date: 7 November).
NLS Days 2023, 29 – 30 November 2023, Copenhagen, Bilateral – the premiere event for doing business with Nordic life science companies, with big pharma executives, investors and CEOs of biotech companies discussing the road ahead for the life science industry, innovative companies and academia presenting topical information on projects, technologies, partnering opportunities and strategies, and more. Deadline to apply: 8 November 2023.
Annual POLIS Conference 2023, 29 – 30 November, Belgium, Cluster 5 – Europe’s leading sustainable urban mobility event, providing an opportunity for cities and regions to showcase their transport achievements to a large audience of mobility experts, practitioners, and decision-makers from both the public and private sector. Deadline to apply: 14 November (Notification date: 16 November).
The travel awards encourage UK participation, engagement and visibility at international events and aim to accelerate UK involvement in European research programmes.
To be eligible for support, a company must be a for-profit, UK-based, R&D performing SME. Successful applicants will also receive pro-active support from Innovate UK to help them maximise the benefit of attending.
