TWI Services Sdn Bhd has signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) with Zakat Pulau Pinang for the new collaborative arrangement to establish a high-skilled welding training programme for all youth in Pulau Pinang.
The MoA was signed on 31 May 2023 at TWI Malaysia by Mr Mohamad Kairi Bin Ghazalli, Deputy Chief Executive Officer of Operation of Zakat Pulau Pinang, and Mr Mohd Ghazale Bin Hashim, Director of TWI. The signing ceremony was attended by representatives from both companies.
The programme which is expected to start in September is fully sponsored by Zakat Pulau Pinang and is offered to Asnaf and B40 group income in Pulau Pinang. Trainees will undergo welder training up to the 3G position in different methods of SMAW, GMAW & GTAW, CSWIP CSWIP Visual Welding Inspection, Appreciation of Basic NDT, as well as the Oil and Gas Safety Passport (OGSP) by NIOSH and the CIDB Green Card training courses during four months. All candidates who complete the training successfully in assessments will be guaranteed job placement.
This programme aims to provide Pulau Pinang's Asnaf and B40 communities with valuable opportunities to acquire vocational and technical skills and education that are aligned with industry requirements. The programme's primary focus is to enable participants to obtain nationally and internationally recognized certifications, ensuring that their skills are acknowledged globally.
TWI Malaysia has collaborated with the Malaysian government and private institutions to train and upskill local talents in accordance with Malaysia's national TVET agenda.
