The Welding Institute’s professional membership is a programme available to all individuals in the field of welding and joining. There are different levels of memberships available for students, apprentices, graduates, and qualified engineers each offering variety of resources to the members.
Professional Membership of The Welding Institute simply means that you are a Member of The Institute as an Associate Member, Technician Member, Member Membership, or Fellow Membership.
To apply for membership, go through the different membership grades and decide which grade you are most suited to. You may alternatively submit your CV to our Membership office and our team will be able to aid you with choosing the right level for you.
Progression from one level to the higher membership level requires proof of continuous professional development. This is to encourage you to continue expanding your knowledge of your chosen discipline once you have completed your standard academic learning and also keep up with the current practice and new initiatives without having to return to the classroom.
The Welding Institute offers its professional members access to a special platform 'mycareerpath' to record their CPD activities as well as upload evidence and supporting documents that could be reviewed and approved.

TWI in Malaysia is registered with the Malaysia Board of Technologists (MBOT) which is a professional body with the mission of elevating the standing and visibility as well as giving professional recognition to technologists and technicians in Malaysia.
Malaysian professionals who are members of MBOT can claim CPD hours by attending CSWIP training courses and help with the development of their personal qualities as well as broadening their knowledge and skills.
