During the briefing session Marie Thompson, Senior Lecturer in Business Management - Apprenticeships & Executive Education at De Montfort University and Kelly Grounds, Work Based Lecturer at De Montfort University, will discuss in detail:
- Course content: the schedule of the programme and in-depth overview of the senior Leader Apprenticeship Programme
- Apprenticeship levy funding: how the programme utilises the levy to benefit both the employee and employer
- Benefits for apprentices: ways the programme supports participants seeking to advance their careers and develop skills to address the complexities of modern leadership.
We will also hear from our current Senior Leader Apprentice Ujjwal Bharadwaj, Technology Innovation Management (TIM) Section Manager at TWI, about his experience and journey.
In addition, Kate Watson, Business Development Manager for Enterprise and Business Services Directorate at De Montfort University will explain in detail the application process and eligibility for the programme.

Marie is passionate about the learner’s experience and applies a learner centric approach in her roles. Marie has extensive apprenticeship management experience along with BSc and MSc degrees in Business and HR Management, CIPD Advance Diploma, HEA Fellowship, being a Chartered Fellow of both the CMI and CIPD. She has over 10 years’ experience consulting, coaching, mentoring, and training vast array of people including graduates, postgraduates, entrepreneurs, managers, executives, directors, CEO’s, and England Rugby players all resulting in increased efficiency, productivity, and profitability.
Kelly Grounds

Kelly Grounds is passionate about work-based learning and enhancing the student experience. Throughout her academic and professional journey, she has witnessed the transformative power of experiential learning. Her background in placements and business research projects has provided a strong foundation and expertise in bridging the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical application. Kelly joined De Montfort University in 2014 and since 2024, she has been working as a Lecturer in Work-Based Learning and Development and is responsible for guiding and assessing Senior Leaders on their Level 7 Apprenticeship (Business Administration).
